Link Governor Audit Support Pack

This pack is designed to support effective governance in schools. It contains fourteen editable audit templates (MS Word .docx format); each one will support the relevant link governor or trustee and school leaders to work together and evaluate their setting's current position. This allows further opportunities for growth to be identified as well as enabling the link governor or local board member to gain a deeper understanding about the school's current position, which can then help to inform future strategic decisions that the governing board makes.

Each audit could also be used by a school leader and then shared with the relevant link governor afterwards; a helpful section on triangulating evidence is included to support this approach. Once the audit is complete, an action plan template is provided, allowing you to document your next steps.

Each governor audit is designed to support long-term strategic collaboration between schools leaders and governors. This allows for a full picture to be built (meaning governors are prepared to speak with Ofsted inspectors when necessary) and ensuring that the governing board fulfils its core functions linked to the educational performance of the school and the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources.

Anyone who wants to support their governors to be more proactive, effective and strategically involved (rather than operationally) will find this pack extremely useful. The fourteen templates are consistent in nature, allowing headteachers, trust leaders, governance professionals, chairs of governors or anyone else involved in building effective governance in school to ensure the governors, local board members and/or trustees have a strong grip on the school's strengths and areas for development.
