Safeguarding Scenario: Elective Home Education

Train staff on safeguarding pupils when they transition from school to elective home education (EHE). Included in this download is one fictional safeguarding scenario where your setting also has concerns about the pupil but the parent in question wishes to electively home educate the pupil with immediate effect. The scenario is more closely suited to primary settings, but the context is easily adaptable for secondary settings.

Also included is a guided walkthrough for the DSL or safeguarding training lead which lets you check whether staff can spot the concerns for the pupil around elective home education as well as ensuring staff know how to respond, report and record effectively. It's ideal to use as a discussion point in a staff meeting or INSET. It can also be used in response to safeguarding trends or concerns in your setting to build staff understanding of keeping children safe.
